The concept for the series is an exploration of the word "cagole" as it appears in renowned French dictionaries, where the term is defined with a notably condescending tone. This prompted a reflection on how society views women labeled as "cagole."
For most people, a cagole is a superficial, vulgar, uneducated woman, as evidenced by the dictionary definitions and the stereotype of the cagole conveyed in popular culture. Cagole actually comes from the word cagoulou, the apron worn by date factory workers in Marseille at the end of the 19th century. At first Italian, then mostly North African in the 1980s, these women hoped every day to find work in these factories so they could survive and feed their families.
But if you think of the idea, a Cagole is an empowering woman who does what she wants with her body. The cagole is a strong woman who doesn't back down in the face of obstacles. A woman with an outspokenness that helps her get on in life. Today's cagole is a woman who is not afraid to be hedonistic. She fully embraces herself and frees herself from patriarchy.
