Guilty Pleasures began with a simple question: What is your guilty pleasure?

I anonymously asked people to share the desires, fantasies, and pleasures they rarely admit to others. Coming from Lebanon, where sexual education is largely absent and sexual frustration is often the norm, I became interested in reclaiming the word guilty, especially when it comes to pleasures that harm no one and exist within the boundaries of consent.

We are often taught to feel ashamed of what we desire, not only by society, but sometimes even by the communities we find ourselves in. Guilty Pleasures creates a space to question that shame and to celebrate the strange, intimate, funny, and sometimes unexpected things that give us pleasure.

I then transformed these anonymous confessions into playful, surreal compositions, recreating them through body parts, fruits, and vegetables. By replacing the explicit with the symbolic, the series turns private desires into something humorous, sensual, and visually absurd.

The series was originally published in Kali Magazine.
